Mahmud Beg Tarzi: was one of Afghanistan's greatest intellectuals.[1] He is known as the father of Afghan journalism. As a great modern thinker, he became a key figure in the history of Afghanistan, following the lead of Kemal Ataturk in Turkey by working for modernization and secularization, and strongly opposing religious extremism and obscurantism.[2] Tarzi emulated the Young Turks coalition.[3]Mahmud Tarzi was born in 1865 in the city of Ghazni, Afghanistan. An ethnic Pashtun, his father was Sardar Ghulam Muhammad Tarzi, a leader of the Mohammadzai royal house and a well known poet. In 1881, Emir Abdur Rahman Khan exiled Mahmud Tarzi's father and family - who would end up living in Turkey. On a second trip to Damascus in 1891, Tarzi married the daughter of Sheikh Saleh Al-Mossadiah, a muezzin of the Amawia mosque. Tarzi would stay in Turkey until the age of 35, where he learned fluent Pashto, Dari, Turkish, French, Arabic, and Urdu.

Altaf Mahmud: a musician, cultural activist and martyred freedom fighter of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He is also a language activist of the Language Movement and composer of Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano - the famous song written to commemorate of the event.Altaf Mahmud came to Dhaka in 1950 and joined in Dhumketu Shilpi Shongho. Later he became the music director of the institution. In 1956, Mahmud was invited to Vienna Peace Conference. But he was unable to attend as his passport was confiscated by the government at Karachi. There he stayed until 1963 and took talim of classical music to Ustad Abdul Kader Khan. He also associated dance director Ghanashyam and music director Debu Bhattacharya.

Al Mahmud: one of the best Bangla poets and writers of Bangladesh. He is considered as one of the best Bengali poets to emerge from the 1950s.[1]He was born in Brahmanbaria District. Mahmud started his career as a journalist. He was recognized as an outstanding poet after the publication of his volume of verse, Lok Lokantor, in 1963. Later books, such as Kaler Kalosh (1966), Sonali Kabin (1966), and Mayabi Porda Dule Otho (1976), established his position as one of the most prominent poets of the country.[2]In addition to writing poetry, Al Mahmud has written short stories, novels and essays, among which 'Pankourir Rakta' and Upamohadesh are considered to be the most famous ones.
