Laurence Jalbert: a Canadian pop singer-songwriter.She began her career with the band Volt in 1985. The band won CKOI-FM's L'Empire des futures stars competition in 1987. They recorded only one single, ("Nobody Knows"), before breaking up. Jalbert went on to a solo career, releasing her first album in 1990, which would know much success and become her first certified platinum album only one year later. In 1991 she receives the "Félix for discovery of the year" and Video Clip of the year award for her single Tomber. Frederick Andrew Laurence: was a Canadian politician. A lawyer, he ran unsuccessfully as the Liberal candidate for the Canadian House of Commons for the electoral district of Colchester in the 1882 federal election. He was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly for Colchester in 1886 and was re-elected in 1890, 1894, 1897 and 1901. A Nova Scotia Liberal, he was Speaker of the House of Assembly from 1895 to 1901 and from 1903 to 1904. He was elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 1904 federal election. He resigned in 1907 when he was appointed a judge.
