Sir Richard William Scott: was a Canadian politician and cabinet minister. He became a member of municipal council in 1851, was mayor of Bytown in 1852, and held a seat in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1857 until 1863. With Canadian Confederation, Scott won a seat in the Ontario legislature as a Liberal representing Ottawa from 1867 to 1871. He was Speaker of the legislature briefly in December 1871 before being appointed to the provincial cabinet as Commissioner of Crown Lands. Scott played a leading role in passing legislation ensuring the rights of separate schools in Ontario. In November 1873, he left provincial politics when he was appointed minister without portfolio by Alexander Mackenzie in the federal Cabinet. Mackenzie had become prime minister after Sir John A. Macdonald's government had been forced to resign due to the Pacific Scandal. Scott was appointed to the Canadian Senate by Mackenzie in January 1874, and became Secretary of State for Canada and Leader of the Government in the Senate. A supporter of temperance, he drafted the "Scott Act" which allowed any county or municipality in Canada to prohibit the retail sale of liquor by majority vote. With the defeat of the Liberal government in the 1878 election, Scott became Leader of the Opposition in the Senate until the return of the Liberals to government under Wilfrid Laurier.

William Henry Scott: was a businessman and political figure in Lower Canada and Canada East. In 1829, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for York County after the death of the previously elected member; he was elected to represent Deux-Montagnes in 1830 and 1834 after York was divided. He supported the Ninety-Two Resolutions but did not support the use of force, which meant that both the government and the Patriotes viewed him as a traitor. He fled but was arrested at Montreal in 1837; he was released in July 1838. In 1844, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Deux-Montagnes; he was reelected in 1848 and 1851. Scott supported the Rebellion Losses Bill compensating residents of Canada East for property losses during the Lower Canada Rebellion; Scott himself was compensated for damage to his home and business. He died at Saint-Eustache in 1851.

Vincent Joseph "Boomer" Scott: was a Canadian football player. He played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and was later a Hamilton city councillor. He became a Canadian citizen in the mid 1950s. He worked at Stelco after his retirement, and later entered the real estate business. He hosted a talk show in the 1970s and 1980s, and was named to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1982.[3] He was elected to Hamilton City Council for the city's fourth ward in the 1982 municipal election, and subsequently participated in discussions with Tiger-Cats owner Harold Ballard to ensure that the team remained in Hamilton. Fellow councillor Mike Davison described him as a conservative. Scott was defeated in his bid for re-election in 1985. He suffered a stroke the following year, and never fully recovered. He died in 1992 following a lengthy illness.

D'Arcy Scott: was mayor of Ottawa from 1907 to 1908. Scott was a prominent Ottawa lawyer. He played an important role in the construction of Union Station, now the Government Conference Centre in Ottawa. In 1908 he was appointed chief assistant commissioner of the Board of Railway Commissioners, the predecessor of the Canadian Transportation Agency. In his youth Scott was an active member of the Ottawa Canoe Club and a competitive paddler; in 1893 and 1897 he won the American Canoe Association paddling championship and in 1894 and 1895 he placed second.

Scott first rose to prominence as a lawyer when he acted as the junior counsel for the crown in the prosecutions of Louis Riel, Big Bear, Poundmaker and those involved in the Frog Lake Massacre following the North-West Rebellion of 1885.
