In 1989 she joined the group Garibaldi at age 17, she spent a few years with the group which became very popular during the early 90s. During the mid 90s she expanded her career as an actress when she began to appear in soap operas. Also in the mid 90s she left Garibaldi to pursue a solo career. By 1996 she released her debut album Son Del Corazon.

Her great-grandparents are Ladislaus and Antonia Pilars de Pilar. After Highschool in South Africa (1975–1976) Carol Pilar studied painting and restauration in Florence. Ðuro Pilar: was a Croatian geologist, professor and rector at the University of Zagreb. His formal training was very extensive. The first training he received was at Esseg, Zagreb, and Osijek. Later, he studied at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (from 1865, Natural Sciences), the Sorbonne (from 1869), and the École de Chimie (1869, chemistry) in Paris. He received his Ph.D. in 1868 and acquired a title of docent. Since 1875 he worked as a regular professor at the Faculty of Philosophy (up until 1928 called Mudroslovni fakultet). He was the director of the Mineralogical-geological Department of the People's Museum in Zagreb. He became a full member of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1875.
