Khatun is a member of Parliament, and the current law secretary of the Awami League.Sahara Khatun was born in Kurmitola in Dhaka on March 01, 1943. She completed BA and LLB degrees. She is the founding president of Bangladesh Awami League Parishad and General Secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Samity, as well as a member of the International Women Lawyers' Association and the International Women's Alliance. She was a freedom fighter in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
