Jusuf Kalla – Indonesian Politician

As the Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla is the first person to hold two terms as the vice president, although not consecutively, previously serving from 2004 to 2009. In 2012, a poll that was done ranked his popularity among voters and put him in the top contenders for presidency, even ahead of Aburizal Bakrie his own party's nominee.

Back in 2009, he was unsuccessful as Golkar’s presidential candidate in the election. Ever since then, Kalla has served as the Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross Society. He also took his father's company, NV Hadji Kalla, which was struggling to one of the top business groups in Indonesia.

Beyond his business and political careers, he has been involved in many highly regarded organizations. He was part of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the chairman for KADIN in eastern Indonesia and south Sulawesi. In 2016, GlobeAsia magazine named Kalla one of the 20 most powerful and influential people in Indonesia.
