Diomidis Symeonidis            Origin/Culture/Country: Greek

Diomidis Symeonidis: was a Cypriot footballer, one of the founders of APOEL.The two men founded POEL which evolved into APOEL. Symeonidis played for the team he co-founded until 1929 when he transferred to Panathinaikos in the Greek League. His career at PAO ended in 1934 due to an injury and Symeonidis returned to Cyprus where he was player/coach for APOEL until 1936.

Diomidis D. Spinellis: is a Greek computer science academic and author of the books "Code Reading" and "Code Quality." He is a Professor at the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business, and a member of the IEEE Software editorial board, contributing the Tools of the Trade[1] column. He is a four-time winner of the International Obfuscated C Code Contest (1988, 1990, 1991, 1995). His Erdos number is 4. He is also a committer in the FreeBSD project, and author of a number of popular free or open-source systems: the UMLGraph[2] declarative UML diagram generator, the bib2xhtml[3] BibTeX to XHTML converter, the outwit[4] Microsoft Windows data with command line programs integration tool suite, the CScout[5] source code analyzer and refactoring browser, and the socketpipe[6] fast IPC plumbing utility.
