Noor Tagouri is the first woman in Playboy to wear a Hijab

For the first time ever, Playboy will have a woman wearing a hijab in the magazine. This is a major stride forward for the publication, which is been in operation for 63 years.

The 22-year-old journalist works as a reporter for Newsy. Tagouri is a part of the Renegades Issue, which is a spread dedicated to the rule breakers and risk takers.

The magazine states that this series will change the way you think about men and women in business, porn, music, comedy, gaming and more.

Tagouri was born in West Virginia and makes a very good, yet surprising case, for modesty. She is a badass activist that has a passion to create change and is always asking the right questions. Not only that but she is on her way to becoming America’s first news anchor that wears a hijab.

The masculine or feminine name Noor, as well as Nour, Nura and Nor, are all variants of Nur in Arabic, Urdu and Pakistani. The unisex name Nur means “light” in Arabic. It is also one of the 99 names given to Allah in Islamic tradition.

The name has been given to many notable people, like Noor Sabri the Iraqi footballer, Noor Bukhari the Pakistani actress or Noor Jehan the Pakistani singer and actress. It has even been given to the former president of Tobago and Trinidad, Noor Hassanali. Now the list will include the playboy model and journalist – Noor Tagouri.
