Shawn Mendes, 18, feels a bit disoriented when he thinks about how his career got started. He is about to play at Madison Square Garden for a sold-out show, for the very first time. The singer-guitarist has fans lined up outside the venue.

Not only does the young star worry that he’s unprepared for the gig, but he thinks it’s a bit crazy that all these people have come just to see him. Mendes’ career has been a little disorienting, as he went from Vine star to chart-topper in just three years.

Mendes first hit was "Handwritten" in 2015, and it came out at number one. However, many believe that his new album, Illuminate, will be a hit sensation as well. He got to the top with his small-town charm and acoustic folk-pop music.

He has big plans for the future, working on his musicianship and vocals. Not to mention his interest in acting or an international arena tour.
