Back to Japan, he formed a new unit, NODA MAP.During 1980s, he is seen as one of the prominent figure in Japanese Sho-Gekijo movement. His plays contains a lot of word game and sometimes he remakes classics from Richard Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung to traditional Kabuki plays.
