Archibald Cox, Jr.: was an American lawyer who served as U.S. Solicitor General under President John F. Kennedy, and later became best known as the first special prosecutor for the Watergate scandal.Cox was the son of Archibald and Frances Perkins Cox. A native of Plainfield, New Jersey, he attended the Wardlaw-Hartridge School, then called Wardlaw Country Day. Cox graduated from Harvard College in 1934 and Harvard Law School in 1937 where he was a member of Phi delta phi legal fraternity, and joined the Boston law firm of Ropes, Gray, Best, Coolidge and Rugg, now known as Ropes & Gray. During World War II, he was appointed to the National Defense Board, and then to the Office of the Solicitor General.

Thomas Dickson Archibald: was a Canadian businessman and politician. In 1854 he was appointed to a seat on the Legislative Council of Nova Scotia, upon the recommendation of William Young. He retained this position until Canadian Confederation in 1867. On 23 October 1867, he was appointed to the Canadian Senate by royal proclamation, where he sat as a Liberal-Conservative representing the senatorial division of North Sydney until his death.

Samuel George William Archibald: was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Halifax County from 1806 to 1836 and Colchester County from 1836 to 1841 in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. Archibald was named King's Counsel in 1817. In 1818, he was surrogate general for the colony's vice admiralty court. In 1819, he unsuccessfully prosecuted Richard John Uniacke, Jr. who took part in the last fatal duel in Nova Scotia. He suffered a stroke in 1836 which left him for a time with paralysis of his facial muscles and difficulty speaking. In 1841, he was named master of the rolls and resigned his seat in the assembly. Archibald died in Halifax in 1846 of a severe stroke.

Alexander Lackie Archibald: was a farmer, tanner, boot manufacturer and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Truro township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1830 to 1843 and from 1848 to 1851 as a Conservative. Archibald was defeated by William Fleming when he ran for reelection in 1847; Fleming's election was overturned in the following year and Archibald was declared elected. He died in Truro at the age of 70.

Charles Dickson Archibald: was a lawyer, businessman and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Truro Township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1826 to 1830. In 1830, he became chief clerk and registrar for the Supreme Court of Newfoundland; he resigned this post in 1831 and was succeeded by his brother Edward Mortimer. In 1832, he married Bridget Walker, heiress to a large estate in Lancashire, England, and spent most of the remainder of his life in England. In 1840, Archibald became a fellow of the Royal Society of London. He retained an interest in Nova Scotia, helping to raise funds to develop an iron mine near Londonderry, Nova Scotia and attending a conference in Toronto in 1851 regarding a railway linking the Maritimes to Upper and Lower Canada. Archibald died in London in 1868.
