Carl August Braun: is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played collegiately for the Colgate University Raiders from 1945-1947.One of the premier guards of the 1950s, Braun spent 13 seasons in the NBA, all but the last with the New York Knicks. He ended his career in 1962, after one season with the Boston Celtics. Braun played in five NBA All-Star Games and scored 10,625 points in his professional career. Braun was a player-coach for the Knicks in 1960 and 1961 as well, compiling a 40-87 record.

Lucy Braun: was a prominent botanist, ecologist, and expert on the forests of eastern United States.[1]Lucy Braun was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and, though she traveled extensively, remained there for the rest of her life as first a student, and later a professor at the University of Cincinnati. She earned a PhD in botany from the university in 1914, and taught botany and geology there continuously until being appointed Assistant Professor of Botany in 1923. In 1950, she became the first female president of the Ecological Society of America, where an award for students carries her name.[2]
