Danny led Skyline High School (Utah), in Salt Lake City, to the state basketball championship in his senior year (1977). A 6'7" small forward from the University of Utah, Vranes played in 7 NBA seasons from 1981 to 1988. He played for the SuperSonics and Philadelphia 76ers. Then he played in Europe with AEK Athens BC from 1988 to 1989 and then in Italy with Teorema Arese/Breeze Milano & Pallacanestro Varese till 1992 when he retired.
