Gennaro Delvecchio: an Italian football (soccer) player. He is a midfielder who currently plays for U.C. Sampdoria of Serie A. He debuted in the Italian top division in 2005-06 with U.S. Lecce, after having played before only in lower leagues (from Serie B to Serie D).He was first capped by Italy national football team head coach Roberto Donadoni for a friendly match against Croatia, which was lost 2-0 at home. He was also selected for Euro 2008 qualification matches against Lithuania and France in September and matches against Ukraine and Georgia in October, but did not make any appearances.

He is also a good passer and dribbler.Prior to joining A.S. Roma in 1995, Delvecchio played for Internazionale (1992 and 1994-95), Venezia (1992-93), and Udinese (1993-94). His career reached a high when he was a star at Roma and when he won the Scudetto with Roma in 2001. He played one season for Brescia in 2004-05, and was then bought by Parma. In 2006, Parma released him and he went on to join Ascoli on a free transfer.
