He was the 1978 NCAA Men's Basketball Division I scoring champion, and the Portland State University all-time scoring leader. Williams was the NCAA Division I national men's basketball individual scoring leader in 1977 and 1978. Williams was a consensus second team All-American in 1978. He is second in Division I history in scoring, trailing only Pete Maravich.

In 1849, he married Charlotte Freeman. He was the founder of Samuel Freeman and Sons, which was involved in lumbering, shipbuilding and the sale of groceries. He died in Milton at the age of 78.

Myra Ava Freeman: is a Canadian philanthropist, teacher, the 29th and first female Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Born Myra Ava Holtzman in Saint John, New Brunswick, she graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. In 1971, she started teaching with the Halifax Regional School Board until her appointment. She was appointed Lieutenant Governor in 2000 by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, on the advice of Jean Chrétien. She served as lieutenant governor until September 7, 2006.

Elisha Freeman: was a merchant, judge and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Liverpool township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1765 to 1767. He was the first town clerk for Liverpool and also served as a justice of the peace. In 1764, he was named a justice in the Inferior Court of Common Pleas for Queen's County. Freeman was also named a judge of probate in the same year. He resigned his seat in the provincial assembly in October 1767 due to age.

He was elected to the assembly in a 1780 by-election held after the death of William Smith. Freeman's seat was declared vacant in 1783 for non-attendance.
