Hornsby's first name, Rogers, was his mother's maiden name. He spent most of his career with the St. Louis Browns and the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition, he had short stints for the Chicago Cubs, the Boston Braves, and the New York Giants.

Sydney Ernest Rogers: was a Manitoba politician. Between 1937 and 1941, he was the leader of the province's Social Credit Party. This party was influenced by the recent victory of William Aberhart in Alberta, and promised a similar program of monetary reform.
