Brian Dwight Taylor: is a retired American professional basketball player. A 6'2" guard from Princeton University, he was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 1972 NBA Draft. However, he began his professional career with the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association, for whom he played four seasons, appearing in two ABA All-Star Games. He joined the NBA as a member of the Kansas City Kings in 1976, and he averaged a career-high 17 points per game in 1976-1977. He also played for the Denver Nuggets and San Diego Clippers, before retiring in 1982 with 7,868 career points. His son, Bryce, is currently a junior guard for the Oregon Ducks. Today, Brian works as a high school principal in Los Angeles.

Frederick Morgan Taylor: was an American hurdler, winner of three Olympic medals.Morgan Taylor, from Sioux City, Iowa, competed in both track and field and football at Grinnell College. At the American trials for the 1924 Summer Olympics, he broke the world record in the 400 m hurdles on two occasions, making him a favourite for the Olympic gold. In Paris, he broke his World Record again, with a margin of 1.4 seconds to win the gold. However, he had knocked over a hurdle and - because of rules in effect in 1924 - he could not become the World Record holder. Because the second-place finisher was disqualified, the third finisher (and silver medallist) became owner of the new World Record.
