Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki            Origin/Culture/Country: Polish

Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki: was Polish-Ukrainian member of szlachta of Orthodox faith[1], merchant, spy, diplomat and soldier, and considered a hero by the people of Vienna for his actions at the 1683 Battle of Vienna. According to a popular legend, he opened the first café in the city, using coffee beans left by the retreating Ottoman Turks.During the Battle of Vienna in 1683, he volunteered to leave the besieged and starving city and contact Duke Charles of Lorraine. Together with his trusty servant, Jerzy Michajlovic, he left the city in Turkish attire and crossed enemy lines singing Ottoman songs. After contacting the duke, the pair managed to return to the city and reach it with a promise of imminent relief. Because of that information, the city council decided not to surrender to the Turkish forces of Kara Mustafa Pasha and continue the fight instead.

Jerzy Lukaszewski: is a Polish-born academic and former diplomat. He taught at the College of Europe in Bruges from 1961 to 1990 and served as its rector from 1972 to 1990.[1] From 1990 to 1996, he was Polish ambassador to France.[1]

Jerzy Onuch: is a contemporary artist and curator. He has been working as an artist since the late 1970s, presenting performance and installation works in Europe and North America. He currently holds the diplomatic post of Director of the Polish Institute in Kyiv Ukraine[1].Jerzy was born and raised in Poland, emigrated to Canada in 1987 and returned to Poland and later Ukraine in the mid 1990s. He is married with one daughter.

Jerzy Zaruba: was a Polish graphic artist, stage scenographer and caricaturist; author of satirical drawings, political crèches and illustrations for books and magazines. Pupil of Stanislaw Lentz.Zaruba was member of the group Formisci, co-founder of the Circle of Graphic Artists in Advertising (Kolo Artystów Grafików Reklamowych), active member of the Polish Arts Club (Polski Klub Artystyczny), art director of Cyrulik Warszawski. Awarded the Golden Pin with Laurel (Zlota Szpilka z Wawrzynem), prize of weekly magazine Szpilka for achievements in the field of humour and satire, for the year 1966. Also awarded the Knight's and Officer's Cross of Polonia Restituta.

Jerzy Bartminski            Origin/Culture/Country: Polish

Jerzy Bartminski: is a Polish linguist and ethnologist.He studied Polish philology, and in 1971, he earned a PhD degree, focusing his research on the language of folklore.[1] As a young scientist at UMCS Lublin University together with his wife and children he established one the first groups of home church Catholic Renewal movement in Poland.[2] In the 1980s, he took part in the anti-communist activities as a member of Solidarity and was a University leader of this movement in Lublin. He was repressed after declaration of the Martial law in Poland in 1981.[3] Later, Bartminski was one of the founders of "Solidarity of Families" movement and foundation, focusing on reactivation of social bonds in the post-communist society, support for poor families, and for educational support for children.[4]
