Spiro Theodore Agnew: was the thirty-ninth Vice President of the United States, serving under President Richard M. Nixon, and the fifty-fifth Governor of Maryland. He is noted for his quick rise in politics - going in six years from County Executive to Vice President. He resigned as Vice President in 1973 after he was charged with tax evasion.[1]

William (Billy) Agnew: was a Scottish footballer.Agnew played for Pollok, Ayr United and Falkirk before moving down to England to sign with Port Vale in September 1921. He enjoyed regular football in the 1921–22 season, however he was used more sparingly the next season and after undergoing cartilage operations in the spring of 1923 was released. He moved on to Arthurlie and Luton Town.

Patrick "Paddy" Agnew: is a former IRA member (volunteer) and was elected to Dáil Éireann during the 1981 Irish hunger strike. Although he was not on hunger strike, he was elected as a TD for Louth at the 1981 general election, topping the poll. He did not take his seat. This was along with Kieran Doherty, who was elected in Cavan–Monaghan and died on hunger strike. Agnew was released from jail in 1986 and joined the Gerard Halpenny Sinn Féin Cumann in Dundalk where he remains an active member of the party. He also wrote for Vincent Browne's Magill Magazine.

John Hume Agnew: was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1903 until his death as a member of the Conservative Party, and was a prominent cabinet minister in the government of Rodmond Palen Roblin. He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the 1903 provincial election, defeating Liberal candidate F.W. Clinigan by 25 votes in the Virden constituency. He was appointed to Roblin's cabinet on March 2, 1904 as Provincial Treasurer. New cabinet appointees were required to seek a renewed mandate from their electors in this period of Canadian history, and Agnew was returned for Virden without opposition on March 12. He was re-elected with an increased majority in the 1907 election, and was retained as Provincial Treasurer in the legislative sitting that following. He died in office in 1908.
