Chen Yun            Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese

Chen Yun: was one of the most influential leaders of the People's Republic of China during the 1980s and 90s, and one of the top leaders of the Communist Party of China for almost its entire history. He was also known as Liao Chengyun ; it is unclear whether this was his original name or a pseudonym he used during his underground work in Shanghai. He was one of the Big Five in Communist China along with Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, and Zhu De and considered to be one of the Eight Immortals of Communist Party of China.

Chen Yinke            Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese

Chen Yinke: was a sinologist and a fellow of Academia Sinica. His representative works are The Origins of Sui and Tang Institutions: A Brief Account , On the Political History of the Tang Dynasty and An Alternative Biography of Liu Rushi.In March 1925 he returned to China again, meanwhile Wu Mi was in charge of the Institute of Guoxue Studies, Tsinghua School. He accepted the invitation to become a supervisor at Institute of Guoxue Studies, together with Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao and Zhao Yuanren. In 1928 Tsinghua School was restructured to become Tsinghua University. Chen was employed as professor at Chinese Language and Literature Department and History Department, while also adjunct with Peking University.

Chen Jiongming            Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese

Chen Jiongming: was a revolutionary figure in the early periods of the Republic of China. Chen Jiongming was born in 1878 at Haifeng, Guangdong, China.Relations deteriorated further when Sun became "extraordinary president", a move not condoned by the Provisional Constitution. It was Chen who first invited the Chinese Communist Party to Guangdong against Sun's objection that the Communists might dilute the movement. After the First Zhili-Fengtian War in 1922, there was a strong movement to reunite the northern and southern governments by having both Sun and Xu Shichang resign their rival presidencies in favor of restoring Li Yuanhong as president of a united republic. Chen was enthusiastic but Sun felt the new government would be a powerless puppet of the Zhili clique.

Chen Chu: is a Taiwanese politician who is the current mayor of Kaohsiung. She was one of the "Kaohsiung Eight," prominent dissidents arrested after the Kaohsiung Incident in 1979. She spent six years in jail during the martial law period in Taiwan.

Chen Chi-chuan            Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese

Chen Chi-chuan: was a member of the "Chen family from Kaohsiung", was a Taiwanese politician and businessman. He was the mayor of Kaohsiung between 1960 and 1968, and was the co-founder and chair of Kaohsiung Medical College. Chen is a son of Chen Chung-he (???), a sugar industrialist in the Japanese-ruled Taiwan.

John Chen: a concert pianist from New Zealand.In 2004 he became the youngest winner of the Sydney International Piano Competition. He has a Master of Music from the University of Auckland, where he studied with Rae de Lisle. He has performed with most of the major symphony orchestras of Australia and New Zealand, and has made recordings of Henri Dutilleux and Claude Debussy for Naxos and ABC Classics respectively.
