Izet Nanic: was a Bosnian brigade commander. Izet Nanic was born October 4, 1965 in Bužim. He finished High School in 1984 in Zagreb. After being accepted in the military academy in Belgrade, where he was for 2 years, then going to Sarajevo for 1 year. Then going back to Zagreb again in 1987 where he finished the military academy. At the beginning of Bosnian War, he joined the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He became the commander of the 505th Brigade of the Fifth Corps led by Brigadier General Atif Dudakovic. He led the command for 4 years, the entire war.

Izet Sarajlic: was a Bosnian historian of philosophy, essayist, translator and poet. Sarajlic was Bosnia and Herzegovina's best-known poet after World War II, and the former Yugoslavia's most widely translated poet. In Sarajevo, Sarajlic attended the boys’ gymnasium, and would enter the world of Yugoslav poetry at age 19 with the collection, "U susretu" ("In meeting"). He graduated from the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Sarajevo, department of philosophy and comparative literature, with a doctorate in philosophical sciences. During his studies at university, Sarajlic worked as a journalist. After graduating, Sarajlic became a full-time professor at the Philosophy Faculty in Sarajevo, a position he would hold for the rest of his life. He was a member of both the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Writers' Society of Bosnia and Hercegovina, as well as the association of intellectuals, "Krug 99" ("Circle 99"). Together with Husein Tahmišcic, Ahmet Hromadžic, Velimir Miloševic i Vladimir Cerkez, he founded "Sarajevo Poetry Days" as an international book festival in 1962.

On October 3, 2010 Izetbegovic was elected to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the Bosniak member. Izetbegovic came in first in a field of nine candidates with 35% of the vote. The runner up, Fahrudin Radoncic won 31% of the vote while incumbent Haris Silajdžic won 25%. Six other candidates split the remaining 9% of the votes cast.
