Maysa Figueira Monjardim: better known as Maysa Matarazzo or simply Maysa, daughter of Alcibíades Guaraná Monjardim, born in Brazil on June 06, 1936, and wife Inah Figueira and paternal granddaughter of Manuel Silvino Monjardim and wife Ursulina Guaraná, was a singer, composer, and actress from Brazil. She is also associated with Bossa nova music but is widely known as a torch-song interpreter.Maysa showed talent at a young age and by twelve had written a samba song, which later became a hit from her first album. She married a member of a wealthy and traditional family at the age of 18 and two years later had a son, Jayme Monjardim. Jayme would later be known as a television director. In the late 1950s she formed a successful bossa nova group and also did television work.

Mays and teammates Lance Blanks and Joey Wright were known as the "BMW The Ultimate Scoring Machine" during the 1989-90 basketball season. That Longhorn team advanced to the Elite Eight in the 1990 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Travis Mays ranks second in UT men's basketball all-time scoring (2,279 points) and also is second in Southwest Conference all-time scoring. Mays' career scoring average was 18.4 ppg. He scored in double-figures in 100 of 124 career games, and is the only UT men's player in history to score more than 700 points in a season; he did that with 743 points as a junior and 772 as a senior. Mays helped lead Texas to the 1990 Final Eight, scoring 24.1 ppg.
