One of his most famous movies is Nanami: The Inferno of First Love (??·??? - Hatsukoi Jigokuhen, 1968), which Hani co-scripted with Terayama Shuji.

He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1943, where he studied under Shinkichi Hashimoto.
