Theodorus Van Kooten Origin/Culture/Country: Dutch
Theodorus Van Kooten: was a Dutch poet, professor and politician.Van Kooten was the son of the sexton at Leeuwarden, and amazed all visitors to his father's house by translating randomly selected pieces from the Greek bible into Dutch. Van Kooten became Kampen's rector in 1772. From 1784, he was professor of Latin language and history at the College of Franeker. He had to take forced redundancy from there in 1787 due to his Patriot sympathies. He remained he in exile in Saint-Omer until 1795, where he wrote Latin poems.

Theodorus (Theo) Bitter: was a Dutch graphic artist, painter and draftsman. He also made monumental art, designed textiles and illustrated books.Bitter was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague. From 1946-1960 he taught at the same academy. He worked in The Hague, Oslo and Lecce. In The Hague he resided for many years at the Artiestenhof in Trompstraat.[1]

This idea influenced Schoon for his whole artistic life and gave him the freedom to experiment in many media including drawing, printmaking, painting, wood carving, potting, stone carving, jewellery-making and photography.

Theodorus "Dorus" Rijkers: was a famous Dutch lifeboat captain and folk hero, most famous for his sea rescues of 487 shipwrecked victims over a total of 38 rescue operations, and at least 25 before joining the lifeboat-service.[2]Dorus gained most of his fame as a result of his service to the Noord- en zuid-Hollandsche Redding Maatschappij (NZHRM), one of the two main Dutch lifeboat-societies at the time. The NZHRM would later become the Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij (KNRM).
