Lieve Geelvinck: was the son of Joan Geelvinck and grandson of Cornelis Geelvinck and, following them into the vroedschap, he became administrator of the Dutch East India Company and member of the Council of State. He became mayor of Amsterdam for the first time in 1720. Through political marriage alliances, the Geelvinck family had already played an important role the council of Amsterdam for years on end, but in the first half of the 18th century all but one or two of the city's mayors were related to each other.[1]

He was married four times, including to the actresses Susan Shaw and Valerie White. He started his screen career in the German film Annemarie, die Braut der Kompanie (Bride of the Company) in 1932. During the next four years he appeared in another sixteen films, including the German film adaptation of Charley's Aunt. Owing of the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany and his wife Tatjana being Jewish, he moved to Britain in 1937. He spent the years of World War II (1939 to 1945) though mainly in roles depicting Nazis in British films, not finding them overly challenging as an actor.

Cornelis Lievense: was a Dutch businessman who ran several import/export companies in the United States from the 1920s through the 1940s.During his career in the United States, Lievense was the President or director of a number of import/export companies and banks, most notably the Union Banking Corporation, whose assets were seized by the United States government in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act and the Domestic Fuel Corporation, which was blacklisted by the Canadian government in 1940 for similar suspicions.[1]
