Robert Archambeau: a Canadian ceramic artist. Born in Toledo, Ohio, United States in 1933, he immigrated to Canada in 1968. His work, heavily influenced by Japanese ceramics, has been exhibited internationally and is held in many major public and private collections around the world. While living in Japan he worked closely with the artist Akio Takamori and in the studio of Jun Kaneko.He is Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of Manitoba, where he taught for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He also taught at the Rhode Island School of Design. In 2003 he became an artist laureate recipient of the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts, Canada's highest artistic honor. In 2008 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual NCECA conference held in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to his prominence in the field of ceramic art, he is known as an educator and an art collector. These three facets of his career are chronicled in the exhibition catalogue Robert Archambeau: Artist, Teacher, Collector, with essays by Helen Delacretaz and Edward Lebow.

Sir Horace Archambeault: was a politician and judge in the Canadian province of Quebec. In 1888, Archambeault replaced his father as representative for the division of Repentigny in the Legislative Council of Quebec. He was to hold this position until 1908, when he was appointed a judge for the Quebec Court of King’s Bench. In 1911 he succeeded Sir Louis-Amable Jetté as chief justice of that court.

Louis Archambeault: was a Quebec notary and political figure. He was a Liberal-Conservative member of the Canadian House of Commons representing L'Assomption from 1867 to 1874.In 1867, he was commissioner of agriculture and public works in the provincial cabinet and he also represented Repentigny in the province's Legislative Council. He introduced measures to encourage settlement and encouraged French-speaking immigrants to settle in the province. He also served in the House of Commons until the practice of serving in both federal and provincial legislatures was made illegal in 1874. He was accused of involvement in the Tanneries scandal of 1874 which led to the fall of the provincial government of the time. From 1877 to 1882, he was mayor of the village of L'Assomption. In 1888, he gave up his seat on the Legislative Council to his son Horace.
