Fernand Viau: was a Liberal party member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was born in Montreal, Quebec and had a military career. He was first elected at the Saint Boniface riding in the 1945 general election then re-elected for successive terms there in 1949 and 1953. Viau lost the Liberal party nomination for Saint Boniface for the 1957 election to Louis Deniset. Viau then campaigned in the riding as an Independent Liberal but was defeated by Deniset.

After starting out professionally with Angers SCO in level two, Viaud moved to AS Monaco FC, making his Ligue 1 debut on July 23, 1993, in a 0–1 loss at FC Nantes. Gradually imposing himself in the starting XI, he contributed with 24 matches in 1996–97, as the club won the national title after nine years.
