Franz Boas: was a German-American anthropologist and a pioneer of modern anthropology who has been called the "Father of American Anthropology".[3] Like many such pioneers, he trained in other disciplines; he received his doctorate in physics, and did post-doctoral work in geography. He is famed for applying the scientific method to the study of human cultures and societies, a field which was previously based on the formulation of grand theories around anecdotal knowledge.[4]

Harold Boas: was a town planner and architect in Western Australia. Boas designed many public buildings in and around Perth and was an influential Jewish community leader.[1]In June 1905 he moved to Perth where he initially joined architects M. F. Cavanagh & Austin Bastow and later Oldham, Boas, Ednie-Brown & Partners with whom he stayed for many years. Boas married Sadie ('Sarah') Cohen in North Perth on 29 March 1911.With his partners, Boas designed many public and private buildings around Perth including the open-aired King's Picture Theatre (1905), the Nedlands Park Hotel (1907), Radio station 6WF (1924), Edith Dircksey Cowan Memorial (1934), the Emu Brewery (1938)[2], the Adelphi Hotel, London Court (1937) and the Gledden Building (1838).

Johan Erik Vesti Boas: was a Danish zoologist and a disciple of Carl Gegenbaur and Steenstrup. During the beginning and end of his career, Johan Erik Vesti Boas worked at the Zoological Museum of Copenhagen. However, during an intervening period of 35 years, Boas worked with the Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen, because Boas had felt ignored at the appointment of the museum curator post, which went, instead, to G.M.R. Levinsen (q.v.).
