Witold Wojtkiewicz: was a Polish painter. He started his education at the Warsaw Drawing School in 1898 and continued at the Academy in Kraków. His original and inventive work anticipated Polish Expressionism. Wojtkiewicz offer employed grotesque motifs and irony in his work. He admired the modernist paintings of Stanislaw Wyspianski and Jacek Malczewski. He reflected the ideas of Romantic poets such as Cyprian Norwid and authors such as Stanislaw Przybyszewski and Edward Abramowski, the originators of Expressionist manifestos. He also worked as an illustrator and postcard designer. One of his most famous works was a watercolour entitled "Spring is Approaching."

Witold Malcuzynski: was a Polish pianist who specialized in Chopin. Brother of Karol Malcuzynski, politician and journalist.Originally he intended to study law but switched to music, studying under a pupil of Busoni. In 1936, he received an invitation to study under Ignacy Paderewski, former prime minister of Poland and one of the great Romantic pianists of the "Golden Age". Malcuzynski's playing was marked by great passion and poetry. In 1937 he met his future wife, Colette Gaveau, French pianist.
