William Florine Sarni: was a Major League Baseball catcher. A native of Los Angeles, California, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1951–1952, 1954–1956) and New York Giants (1956).Sarni's professional baseball career began at the age of 15 when he played for the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League. In 33 games he went 19-for-83 (.229) with one home run and nine runs batted in.He reached the major leagues in 1951 with the Cardinals at age 23 and became their regular catcher in 1954. That would be his best season, batting .300 with 9 HR and 70 RBI in 123 games. He also led National League catchers with a .996 fielding percentage and 12 double plays.
