Archie Panjabi Has a New Role on the Blindspot

Date 2016-09-14

One of the stars from the TV series The Good Wife, Archie Panjabi can’t seem to get away from her character Kalinda. The Emmy winner takes it as a compliment from fans and states that it’s all due to the popularity of the character and the success of the show.

Panjabi just agreed to act on season 2 of Blindspot as the character Nas Kamal, who is the head of the NSA secret division. She enjoys her new role on the show, as a leader and protector of her team, it's similar to her character as Kalinda. Both are strong independent roles, but Kamal uses less sex to get her way than Kalinda.

The name Archie is usually used for men and is a diminutive of Archibald, which comes from the Germanic elements ercan meaning “genuine” and bald meaning “bold”. However, the first element – ercan – was altered because of the influence the Greek names had and the element archos which meant “master”.

The name was brought to England by the Normans. It first became popular in the Middle Ages in Scotland. The name Archie did not become common in the English-speaking world until the American comic book character, Archie Andrews, was created back in 1941.

There have been tons of notable people born into the name, from the American baseball player Archie Bradley or the Chinese-American actor Archie Kao. The name will now include the famous actress Archie Panjabi, who is both genuine and bold.
