Carlos Walker a.k.a. "Shawty Lo" Has Died

The rapper Shawty Lo died in a car crash on I-285 in South Fulton County. Channel 2 Action News confirmed the victim of the crash as the Atlanta rapper.

Police said the crash occurred around 2:20am, the 2016 Audi that Shawty was driving careened into the guardrail, then hit some trees and burst into flames on the Cascade Road exit. Fulton County police say the rapper was thrown from the car and died on scene. Two women were also taken to the hospital with injuries that were non life-threatening, who were in the car.

Shawty’s manager confirmed the tragic news and shared it on Shawty Lo’s Twitter account. Shawty Lo’s group the D4L spoke on the Ryan Cameron Morning Show with the host Wanda Smith following the accident, they were all distraught.

The rapper Shawty Lo was born into the name Carlos Walker. The masculine name Carlos is a Catalan, Portuguese and Spanish version of Charles, which was from the Germanic name Karl. Karl was taken from the Germanic word that meant “man”. There are others who believe that it is derived from the common element in German – hari that means “army or warrior”.

The name Carlos has been given to many notable people, from royalty to sports players. Including Carlos V, who was a Holy Roman Emperor to Carlos II the last Habsburg King in Spain. Not to mention all the famous sports players, from Carlos Garay the American football player to Carlos Moya the Spanish tennis player.
