Chaker Khazaal – Canadian Author

After emigrating to Canada from Bourj El Barajneh, which is a Palestinian refugee camp located in Beirut, Chaker Khazaal was able to make something of himself. He is “living proof” that people who are displaced can achieve great things and even inspire others.

As a Palestinian-Canadian author, entrepreneur, and reporter, he is considered a voice for many young writers and refugees. He came to Canada after he won the Global Leader of Tomorrow Award from York University, which is located in Toronto, Canada. He received the award for his leadership skills and excellent academic performance back in 2005.

In 2013, Khazaal released his novel “Confessions of a War Child”, which became critically acclaimed. The thriller-romance was the first of a trilogy of books that were inspired by true stories told by refugees around the world, especially in the Middle East. To write the books, he traveled to different war zones for the interviews.

When he is not writing, he is part of a group of professional refugees that comes from all over the world and offers remote contractual employment services in graphics, e-marketing, social media management and other web solutions. Khazaal's role is to build marketing strategies and recruit clients in the business. In 2016, he was named one of the 100 most influential young Arabs in the world by Arabian Business.

The meaning of the masculine name Chaker is not known. However, it is common in Arabian cultures, from Chaker Bargaoui to Chaker Zouagi the Tunisian footballers.
