François Hollande – French Politician

President François Hollande is considered by many to be the “anti-Obama”. Rather than leading by reacting to international issues, Hollande has been helping in many ways, from the containment of Putin to the spread of terrorism in Africa.

In 2013, Hollande has ordered many French planes to be ready to put Bashar Assad in place. However, Obama stepped in and stopped Hollande from telling Bashar that he had “crossed the line”. The world might have been a very different place if Assad’s army retreated back into their barracks – Daesh may not have survived.

Even when Europe was on the brink of collapse, Hollande was the only European leader to still believe in the country. Hollande believed that without Europe, the world might revert back to the Middle Ages, and he acts to preserve the country.

Hollande will be remembered as the first leader to understand the political, ideological and strategic world threat that jihadist terrorism is. No matter what kind of impression Hollande left domestically, for many years he was a great world leader. In fact, TIME magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016.

The masculine name François is the French version of Franciscus, which is the English form of the Late Latin name that means “Frenchman”. The name was ultimately derived from the Germanic tribe of the Franks, who were named after a type of spear they used for hunting.

The name became popular after the French lyric poet - François Villon – from the 15th century. The name was also given to two Kings from France.
