Jin Liqun – Chinese Banker

Date 2016-12-29

Currently, Jin Liqun is the president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which is a company that is changing the geopolitical and geoeconomic landscape. As part of a leading organization, AIIB is working with the New Development Bank to tackle the emerging markets and gain power.

With Liqun’s leadership, AIIB has gained over 55 prospective founding members, despite the fact that the United States strongly opposed. However, his strong personality allowed Liqun to turn the company into an effective development bank that can work with other institutions like the Asian Development Bank or the World Bank.

In fact, Liqun has demonstrated that he has strong leadership skills and can meet high lending standards while developing effectively. This matters a lot when it comes to governance and the AIIB, as right now the bank is in emerging markets, like China, which have different lending standards than other more established institutions in advanced countries.

Liqun was born and raised in Changshu, Jiangsu. He tried to obtain a bachelor's degree but failed due to the Culture Revolution in China. After becoming a part of the Red Guard he worked in rice field for a few years before teaching for a brief period of time. When universities reopened he obtained a Master in Arts in English and a degree in Economics.
