Ken Sutcliffe Is Retiring

The Nine News sports anchor Ken Sutcliffe has announced his retirement from presenting full-time, which will happen at the end of this year. He has put in more than 50 years working in the media and will call it quits.

He made the shocking announcement on the Nine News Sydney bulletin while he was on air with his colleague, Peter Overton. He has been considering retiring for a long time and feels that this is the perfect time to move on from his dream job.

Although Sutcliffe was emotional about his retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with his children and grandchildren. At this time in his life, he would rather plays sports than watch them and travel with his wife.

Overton was stunned and stated that he would miss having him around, as Ken was a great mentor and friend. Many people are going to miss the presenter, from viewers to colleagues. However, Sutcliffe reassured fans that he would return occasionally to present, as Nine News has an open door policy for retired presenters.

The name Ken is the short form of Kenneth that is the Anglicized version of both Cinaed and Coinneach. The name Cinaed is Irish and Scottish in origin and in Gaelic means “born of fire”. On the other hand, Coinneach is derived from the Gaelic word caoin meaning “handsome”.
