Samira Wiley is Engaged

One of the stars from “Orange is the New Black,” Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey Washington on The Netflix’s original series has just gotten engaged – to Lauren Morelli one of the show’s producers and writers. The couple posted a picture to Instagram that showed off the sparkling ring, with the caption - “Yes.”

In the breakout hit show, Wiley’s character goes through some ups and downs romantically. However, in the last season, it all takes a tragic turn for the worse.

On the other hand, Morelli also has an interesting story offscreen – during filming, she started questioning her own sexuality. Morelli was married to her boyfriend of many years, but just a few months after filming she realized that she was gay.

In fact, Morelli got a divorce from her husband and has been dating Wiley for around two years.

The feminine name Samira is the Arabic and Persian feminine form of Samir, which means “companion in evening talk” in Arabic. This is a fitting name for the Orange is the New Black star, Samira Wiley, who was a companion to a few in the evening hours in the prison.

In fact, the name was given to a Persian princess, who was a Babylonian warrior, plus the wife of King Ninus. Nowadays, there are many notable people with the name, from Samira Makhmalbaf an Iranian film director to Samira Ahmed a British television reporter. Not to mention Samira Said the Moroccan Pop singer or Samira Moussa the Egyptian nuclear scientist.
