Is a Chinese ink painter.Xiaolan Huangpu studied at Jilin school of art in Chángchun from 1977 to 1980, and afterwards mural painting (specialization: wall painting) at the Academy of Arts and Design of the Tsinghua University, Beijing. After he finished his studies in 1984, he lectured at Shandong College of Arts and Design in Jinan until 1989. From 1990 to 1994 he participated in Wolfgang Hutter's master class of oil painting at University of Applied Arts Vienna. Since 1998 he has been professor of plastic arts at Liaoning Normal University in Dalian.[1] He lives and teaches in Austria and China.

He also translated Nietzsche's Also sprach Zarathustra, Kalidasa's lyric poem Meghaduuta (Cloud Messenger), and several of Sri Aurobindo's works into Chinese. He was familiar with Greek, Latin, English, French, as well as Sanskrit and German. A 16-volume of his complete works was published in 2006.
