She married actor Pangky Suwito and has four sons. One from previous married Syamsudin. She started her film career very young, one of Yati's earliet roles was Brandal - brandal Metropilitan , then in 1977, she played the movie " Akibat Pergaulan Bebas " and " Ali Topan Anak Jalanan " which boosted her acting career. Yati Octavia became one of the most well paid actress earning 5 million rupiah which was very big at that time.
