Winning his next ten fights, Willie was in line to challenge Robert Cohen for the World Bantamweight Title. They fought on the 3 September, 1955, at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg. Toweel was knocked down twice in the second round and once in the tenth, but fought back courageously over 15 rounds.The bout was called a draw.
