A Progressive Conservative, Scott, a merchant by profession, was first elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 1965 federal election representing the Ontario riding of Victoria. The riding was renamed Victoria—Haliburton, and Scott was re-elected as its Member of Parliament (MP) in seven successive elections. He served as a backbencher until 1989 when he was appointed parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs.

The riding of Hamilton-Wentworth became open when Tory incumbent Sean O'Sullivan resigned to become a Catholic priest in 1977. Scott won it in a by-election held on October 16, 1978. In his teenage years, Geoff was a budding impressionist, a talent he occasionally displayed, but only on request, during his political career. He formed a partnership with another budding impressionist, Rich Little, in the mid-1950s.

Donald Arthur Scott: was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a New Democratic Party of Manitoba (NDP) member of the Manitoba legislature from 1981 to 1988. Scott was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the Manitoba general election of 1981, in the riding of Inkster. This particular riding was notable for having been held by Sidney Green, a prominent cabinet minister in the government of NDP Premier Edward Schreyer, since 1966. Green had left the NDP in 1979, and was seeking re-election as a member of the Progressive Party of Manitoba. Scott was re-elected without difficulty in the provincial election of 1986, defeating his nearest competitor by almost 4000 votes. In the 1988 election, however, he was upset by Liberal Kevin Lamoureux, who outpolled him by 4466 votes to 4098.

He represented St. John's West in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1872 to 1882, from 1885 to 1889 and from 1894 to 1897. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1889 and in 1893 and in a 1890 by-election in St. John's East. He was elected again in an 1894 by-election held after several Liberals elected in 1893 were forced to resign. Scott was named to the Executive Council as receiver general in 1894. He was defeated when he chose to run in Placentia and St. Mary's in the 1897 general election. He died in St. John's of heart failure at the age of 50.
