Frederick Carl Frieseke: was an American Impressionist painter.He was born in Owosso, Michigan and studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Académie Julian in Paris. Frieseke and his family resided for fourteen years in Giverny, which was also home to Monet. He had a great influence on the Americans at the colony there, many of whom shared his Midwestern American background.

Frederick John Kiesler: Austrian-American theater designer, artist, theoretician and architect.Beginning in 1908–09, Kiesler studied at the Technische Hochschule and beginning in 1910–12, he attended painting and printmaking classes at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, both in Vienna. He did not finish the architecture curriculum at the Technische Hochschule, a circumstance which was to become a distinct disadvantage. Kiesler was productive as a theater and art-exhibition designer in the 1920s in Vienna and Berlin. In 1920 he started a brief collaboration with architect Adolf Loos, and in 1923 ,he became a member of the De Stijl group in 1923. Kiesler was friendly with many of the major figures of the European avant-garde, which may have influenced his heretical, if bizarre, approach to artistic theories and practices.

Frederick Horsman Varley: was a member of the Canadian Group of Seven artists.Varley was born in Sheffield, England in 1881 and studied art in Sheffield and in Belgium. He came to Canada in 1912 on the advice of another Sheffield native, Arthur Lismer, and found work at Grip Ltd.. He served in the First World War and painted scenes of combat from his experiences of the time. He was deeply disturbed by what he saw.

Frederick Arthur Verner: was a Canadian painter, famous for his landscape and scenery paintings from the Canadian plains in the west.Verner was born at Sheridan, Ontario, which was then called Hammondsville, in Upper Canada. Already as a boy he was fascinated and inspired by the paintings of Paul Kane and tried to convince this established painter to take him on as a pupil, but was turned away. A few years later, he went to London, where he studied at Hetherleys Academy of Arts from 1856 to 1860, before joining the British army, enlisting in the 3rd West York regiment. He returned to Toronto in 1862, where he worked first as a photograph colorist and then as a photographer himself. During this time, he became a friend of his long-time idol Paul Kane.

Grover: was an American physicist.Grover worked as a physicist at the National Bureau of Standards, and he went to study with Arnold Sommerfeld at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich in 1907. He was awarded his doctorate in 1908, and his thesis dealt with precision measurements and theory of eddy currents to determine a new method for finding the conductivity of metals. Upon receipt of his doctorate, he again worked at the National Bureau of Standards.
