Alberto José Fortunati Reus: is a political Brazilian and current Mayor of Porto Alegre . In 1974 he moved to Porto Alegre , one of the founders of the Association of Residents of the Student House of UFRGS. He was president of the Academic Board of Students of Mathematics and member of the DCE. Between 1979 and 1982 participated in the popular movement in the villages of the Great Southern Cross, literate adults by Paulo Freire method. In 1987 , he was state representative constituent, and that showed the congressman and had approved amendments. In 1990 took over as federal deputy in Brasília and was reelected in 1994 . Whip and was considered by the Inter-Parliamentary Advisory Department (DIAP) one of the most influential lawmakers in Congress for three consecutive years. In 1997 he became deputy mayor of the capital and secretary of government, coordinating the Forum for Social Policies of the City. In 2000 he was elected alderman , with 39,989 votes.
