John Alexander (Pete) Robertson            Origin/Culture/Country: American

John Alexander (Pete) Robertson: was a Canadian Senator. Robertson was a freight train conductor for the Canadian Pacific Railway at the time of his surprise appointment by John George Diefenbaker to the Canadian Senate in 1962. He was told of his appointment while in a caboose at Ignace, Ontario. He had previously been an unsuccessful Progressive Conservative candidate in the 1958 federal election but was defeated in the riding of Kenora—Rainy River by 217 votes. He also ran in a 1961 provincial by-election to fill the Kenora seat in the Ontario legislature but was again defeated.

John Ross Robertson: was a Canadian newspaper publisher, politician, and philanthropist in Toronto, Ontario. He was elected to the Canadian House of Commons for the electoral district of Toronto East in the 1896 federal election defeating the incumbent Conservative MP, Emerson Coatsworth. An Independent Conservative, he did not run for re-election in 1900.

Joseph Gibb Robertson: was a Scottish-born merchant, farmer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Sherbrooke in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1867 to 1892 as a Conservative.Robertson was treasurer for the province several times during the period from 1869 to 1887. He resigned his seat in the cabinet in 1874 during the Tanneries scandal and again later that year because of his opposition to government ownership of the North Shore Railway. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1892. Robertson served as postmaster for Sherbrooke from 1892 until his death there at the age of 79.

Alexander Robertson: was an Ontario lawyer and political figure. He represented Hastings West in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1879 to 1882 and in the Canadian House of Commons from 1882 to 1888 as a Conservative member. He was educated in Belleville, went on to study law, was called to the bar in 1864 and set up practice in Belleville. Robertson served on the Belleville town council from 1864 to 1869 and was Belleville's mayor in 1870 and from 1878 to 1879. He served as a captain in the militia during the Fenian raids. He married Mary Georgina Stewart in 1870. In 1882, he resigned his seat in the provincial assembly to run for a seat in the House of Commons. Robertson was a prominent member of the Masonic order. He died in office in 1888.
