Syed Mujtaba Ali: was a renowned Bengali author, academician, scholar and linguist. He was born in Sunamganj, Sylhet in Bangladesh.In 1919, Syed Mujtaba Ali was inspired by Rabindranath Tagore and started writing to the poet. In 1921, Mujtaba joined the Indian freedom struggle and left his school in Sylhet. He went to Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan and graduated in 1926.He was the first graduate of the university. Later, he went to Kabul and worked in the education department (1927-1929). From 1929 to 1932 he studied at the universities in Berlin, London, Paris and Bonn, earning a PhD in comparative religious studies from the latter with a dissertation on the Khojas.

Syed Shamsul Haq: is one of the best Bangladeshi poets and writers. He was born in Kurigram.Syed Shamsul Haque was born in the Mahakuma Kurigram (now district) in 1935. His father was Syed Siddique Hossain a homeopathic physician and mother Halima Khatun. His father came to Kurigram to pursue in the practice of medicine. Traditionally they were a peer (saint) family but Haque's father breaking the family tradition studied English and Medicine. Haque's grandfather was furious at this audacity of his son.

Syed Ali Ahsan: was a professor, poet, and writer. He was born in the village of Alokdia in the Magura District of Bangladesh.He worked in All India Radio, was a professor of department of Bangla in University of Dhaka and later, head of the department of Bangla of University of Karachi.Ali Ahsan was a director of Bangla Academy and was the Vice Chancellor of University of Rajshahi. In addition, he was a National Professor(Jatio Addhapok) of Bangladesh. Ali Ahsan took part in the war of independence.

Syed Sultan: was a well known Bangladeshi writer and poet during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. His birth place is not known. He was a resident of Patiya village under Chakrashala Chakla in Chittagong. He lived in Laskarpur (Paragalpur), Chittagong for several years.Sultan’s best known work is Nabibangsha. His literary works were included in the curriculum of school level, secondary, and higher secondary Bengali Literature in Bangladesh.

Syed Nazrul Islam: was a Bangladeshi politician and a senior leader of the Awami League. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, he served as the acting President of Bangladesh in the absence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.Syed Nazrul's political career began when he joined the Awami Muslim League and participated in the Language Movement in 1952, for which he was arrested by Pakistani police. He would rise to various provincial and central party leadership positions, becoming a close confidante of the party's leader Sheikh Mujib. He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1970, where he served briefly as deputy leader of the majority.

Abdul Mannan Syed: a renowned Bangladeshi author and researcher.Abdul Mannan Syed is best known for his research on Bengali poet Jibanananda Das. Although he is most renowned for literary criticism, he is a versatile writer and poet. He taught as a faculty in the department of Bengali in the Jagannath College, Dhaka. Later he served as Director General of the Nazrul Institute. For a long time he was associated with the Shilpataru, a monthly literary magazine published from Dhaka by poet Abid Azad.
