Caspar Othmayr: was a German Protestant priest, theologian and composer. Othmayr is considered one of the masters of melodic phrasing (Liedsatz) of the middle of the 16th century. The most important works were written from 1545 to 1550. He composed numerous hymns inspired by Martin Luther, and in 1546 wrote Epitaphium a Lutheri in memory of him.

He described the glands that bear his name in 1677.

Georg Caspari: was a Baltic German academic. He studied at the University of Rostock, where he published De Descensu Christi ad Inferos in 1704 and De Testamentis Divinis in 1705. Caspari also published some of his father's papers after his death in 1702. After living for a while in Greifswald, Caspari returned to Riga in 1723 and served at the cathedral. He died in his hometown.
