Louis Auguste Olivier: was a Quebec lawyer, judge and political figure. He was a Liberal member of the Senate of Canada for De Lanaudière division from 1867 to 1873.In 1864, he was named Queen's Counsel. He was elected to the Legislative Council of the Province of Canada for Lanaudière division in an 1863 by-election and served until Confederation, when he was named to the Senate. In 1873, he resigned to accept an appointment as puisne judge in the Quebec Superior Court for Joliette district.

He served as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Labour from 1976 to 1978. Following the 1980 election, Olivier was elected chair of the Liberal Party's Quebec caucus. In January 1984, Trudeau appointed Olivier to the Cabinet as Minister of State for fitness and amateur sport. Olivier was dropped from Cabinet in June when John Napier Turner became the new prime minister. He was defeated in the subsequent 1984 election.
