Fermín Chávez: was an Argentine historian, poet and journalist, born in El Pueblito, a small town near Nogoyá, province of Entre Ríos. He studied humanities in Córdoba, philosophy in Buenos Aires, and devoted three years to the study of theology, canon law, archaeology and Ancient Hebrew in Cuzco, Peru.Under the rule of Juan Perón (1946–1955) he was a militant Justicialist, close to Eva Perón, whom he met in 1950. He joined the Peronist cause along with other Catholic intellectuals, like his friend José María Castiñeira de Dios. He then formed part of the resistance to those who ousted Perón in 1955, and was a member of the delegation that returned with Perón to Argentina after his exile in Spain, in 1973.

He was a 50th round selection by the California Angels of Anaheim in the 1992 June Draft. He made his major league debut on September 2, 1997 against the Colorado Rockies where he record 28 days of major league service. After the Angels he continued his professonal career playing one season for the Oakland A's "AAA" World Series Champions Vancouver Canadiens in 1999. He also play two season for the Arizona Diamondbacks "AAA" club the Tucson Sidewinders from 2001-2002. He then finished off the rest of his pro career playing in the Atlantic Independent League for the Atlantic City Surf from 2002-2005. Anaheim Angels of Major League Baseball.

Miller High School in Fontana, California[1], Chavez was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft out of Riverside Community College. In 2006, Chavez was promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma where he pitched one game before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Kip Wells. He was assigned to the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians where he pitched the rest of the season and all of 2007.
