Feliks Sypniewski: was a Polish painter and artist who painted mostly historic battle scenes drawn from the borderlands of Poland and Germany.His oil on canvas Knights From a Religious Order, also called The Teutonic Knights, was taken from the Lublin Museum in Poland during World War II German occupation. It was inventoried by the Germans, numbered III BR/7, and possibly taken back to Germany. It is now lost. This painting records the Teutonic Knights' retreat after the Battle of Grunwald in Tannenberg. On the morning of 15 July 1410, the armies of King Wladyslaw Jagiello met them.

Feliks Topolski: was a Polish-born British expressionist painter.He studied in the Warsaw Academy of Art and trained as an artillery officer. Later he moved to work in Italy and France and eventually moved to UK in 1935 and founded a studio near Waterloo where there is still a free permanent exhibition which chronicles the twentieth century. He married twice, first to Marian Everall and then Caryl J. Stanley. The George Bernard Shaw play In Good King Charles's Golden Days was published in 1939 with illustrations by Topolski, bringing his work to a wide audience in the UK.
