Hartmut Geerken: is a German musician, composer, writer, journalist, playwright, and filmmaker. Geerken is as artist and arts organizer. As a percussionist, he has collaborated with a variety of free jazz musicians such as Sun Ra, John Tchicai, Sainkho Namtchylak. As a poet, he is a practitioner of concrete poetry and organizes events such as the annual Bielefeld New Poetry Colloquium. As an actor, he appeared in six films by Herbert Achternbusch and appeared in two of Achternbusch's plays at the Munich Kammerspiele. From 1991–1992, he held the Chair of Poetics at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen.

Hartmut Stegemann: was a German theologian with interest in the New Testament and specialized in Dead Sea Scrolls research. He was responsible for developing standard methods for reconstructing scrolls. Stegemann began working of the scrolls in 1957 at the Qumran Research Center in Heidelberg. (He later became director of the Center.) In 1963 he was awarded a Ph.D. Semitic Studies and Religious Studies from the University of Heidelberg. This was also the year that he finished his reconstruction of the Thanksgiving Hymns scroll. Stegemann obtained his doctorate in Theology from Bonn in 1971. From 1971 to 1979 he held the post of professor at Philipps-Universität in Marburg, after which he took over from Hans Conzelmann at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, where he taught until the end of the summer 2005, when he retired. On his 65th birthday he was presented with a festschrift: Antikes Judentum und Fruhes Christentum.

His works include Switching/Zapping[1] (1991), Film Theory, Der Filmsche Raumund der Zushchauer (1992) and Computers and Media Theory, Docuverse (1997). Another one of his works is "Search Engines: Metamedia on the Internet?"[2] (1998), where he attempts to explain how a search engine is a black box, that is, he tries to show that the system of input and output many viewers use is not a legitimate neutral source. He also discusses the position of power that search engines have over their users, the structural format that search engines are based on, and how language changes the perspective of the engines. He talks about how users do not actually understand how a search engine works and how it is structured, yet we make assumptions about its workings, not truly caring how or why it does what it does, as long as it delivers the information we seek.
